Two Awesome Little Ladies Part 1: Katherine

During my break this past weekend I was able to see one of the two greatest little girls I am fortunate to know. The incredible one year old (she'll be two on Jan 3, I think) is Katherine Marie Singleton. She is my cousin and happens to be named after my grandmother Catherine Marie Skidmore. I adore this little one a whole lot. Katherine is a unique little kid too, at least I think so. She is almost stoic, but not in a bad way, she just isn't whiny. Sure, Katherine laughs and cries for her mommy like most little kids, but she is very relaxed. She hasn't seen me for quite some time, yet I was able to walk over and pick her up without a hint of protest. I like that =]. Children are amazing and I love when I they don't cry because of me. What really got me was when Katherine wanted picked up by me. She did this several times. One time I was standing next to her, another time I asked If she wanted to go into the kitchen (or something, that wasn't important. It was that I got to hold her.), and the best time was when I was sitting down. She struggled to get past some people who were between us and at the next clearing darted as fast as her little legs could over to me and held up her little arms to me. Now, Katherine had held up her arms to me each time she wanted picked up, but this time was incredible. To see someone you love struggling to get to you is a humbling thing, and then to embrace them when they get to you is overwhelming.
Its a deeply spiritual thing though, the struggle and embrace. God watches us continually. He see us struggle with life, and He even knows what those struggles do to us. He isn't surprised when I feel like there is to much to deal with. Jesus wants us to struggle for something different than the world though. That may sound odd, so let me explain what I mean. The life for a Follower of Christ is not an easy one. Jesus didn't say you or I would be guaranteed a easy cake walk life. In fact, Master's is so far THE hardest thing I have done in my life and it is all because I choose to live abandoned to the will of God. I have no regrets though. I actually feel more alive now than I ever have. Not solely because of Master's though, but because the world is full of emptiness and sorrow and I know that Jesus is the way the truth and the light. I don't want to talk to much about this though, because words can fail. This is how me picking up Katherine relates to God and myself. God desires me, and when I desire Him I will go through struggles to get to Him. Even though others may be going in the opposite direction, I know where I am headed, and when I get to my heavenly Father's feet it will have been worth it all. I will lift up my arms to Him and His smiling face will look at me, and He will pick me up and embrace me as He has wanted to do for so long.

Krista and Kirk, I want you both to know that I pray for you and Kaleb, and I have been very compelled to pray for Katherine.

Now then, this post mentions that there are two little ladies, but I have only mentioned the one. "Well, who is the other one," you may be asking? That part will have to wait until tomorrow or sometime later. Something happened and I lost almost all of my enthusiasm =[ .

That is all I have for today. I have spent practically all day trying to post this and I can finally click the button.....Here I go!

I promise i really can lose anything but not were i think it would be

Okay, so i did lose my phone, but evidently i was having "ghost phone vibrate syndrome". you know, when you go from expecting it to be going off all the time to having it not usually going off. well, i kept hearing this voice tell me to check my car, but i thought "nah its got to be in here" turns out the voice was right. I went out to check just in case and heard it beep when i opened the door. The beep was from it being on the last leg of power, not a voicemail like i was hoping it would be.
So if you were about to call my phone but feel like you shouldnt now, i will still answer if you call.

I promise i can lose anything !

I am almost resigned to my ability to lose something before I let go of it. Okay, that may be an exageration, but honestly I am very good at not knowing were something is when I need it. This time it is my phone. The only idea i have of where it could be is in my room. The room in Portsmouth that is (i know i didn't leave it in Midlothian). And the only reason i know its lost is because while i was sitting back about to blog how the weekend or at least today went i heard an odd humming noise. I failed at ignoring it. Realizing that my phone was still on vibrate i quickly put down my meal and slid the laptop off my legs and searched for the source of humming noises.
Well, as you have probably gathered from the beginning of this post I did not find my phone. I looked quite thoroughly might i add, though i wouldn't say everywhere. But, the phone and keys are two things i lose often, so i am not too concerned. Frustrated....of course, but not dying.

If you read this tonight and feel inclined to call my phone until i pick up (and please feel inclined to do so) then start dialing!

I even lost myself on the way home tonight, luckily i found myself, but i was an hour off course. I am going to GPSify everything i own.

Flocking to the Next Gen in WBs and The Blogging Experience.

I was up late last night browsing the web and stumbled upon what may replace Firefox for me. (I was looking on the Collide Magazine Blog). This is pretty big, because since I was introduced to Firefox several years ago using other browsers has been something I avoided. But Flock is intense. That is all I can say at this point, since I have only been using for a few hours. If you want to check it out go here: link . It will have the info you will want to check out. I will say that so far I am impressed with the features it boasts and Flock is very pleasing to the eye.

To introduce my next topic I want to let you in on where this blog is being typed. Now, to those who blog often and professionally this next statement may be wasted on, but for me and others who are not as edge-cutting in our postingdom it isn't wasted. I am not writing from the blogger page like normal. It is another feature of Flock. going through the Blogger.com page to start posting isn't needed with this. Actually, this is the first post using it, so I will be interested in how it will turn out. But, Flock was talked about in the last paragraph. This is on blogging in general. Don't expect anything profound in this post. It is simply a quick talk about what I am thinking and discovering.

What can blogging do? Why should I be part of this? LifeChurch.tv posted 7 reasons, the last five of which I think are important, to consider blogging. (Check the list here: Link) I haven't been blogging to long when I think about it. I believe this only the 28th post. [I just wanted to say that just now I figured out how to make a link....wow and I thought I wasn't to out-of-date. I am only 19] I said not to expect any profound statement in this post, but expect changes in my blog in the next couple of months. I expect to have it largely revamped by the New Year. I know that may seem like a long time, but with the schedule in Masters to work around ( mainly school and ministry trips) it may take a few weeks to get to were I know enough to start. Just be ready for a whole lot of changes. Frequently at that.

Well, my cognitive process is slipping away from this post so I am going to finish scratching this out.

(Oh, if you were looking for how to comment, click on the 'Cognitive Reaction' beneath the post. 'Comment' is whats meant by that.)

Is Our World Upside Down, or am I Standing on my Head?

I wonder sometimes who is more backward in its ways, myself or the world. For I, small in honor and deed, delve in things too high for me, yet the world, great and mighty, sits lower than the deepest sea. I see, through wiped iniquity, a cloak of glory. The world sees, through deathly fantasy, a guise of prosperity. I suffer not from my sin, while the earth suffers for a sin it did not. Kingdom in Reverse, through God I am free from a curse.

Has anyone noticed how illogical God's love is? Mercy on His murderers. Grace for the guilty. Love for the loveless. The true definition of love is not in the hearts of men, but in the being that is God. I sometimes forget that I am not worthy of salvation by my own works. Epitome of selfless love found in the hanging of a spotless, innocent lamb. Death is not a moment of mourning for the follower of Christ, yet, a sung as poetry. No dirge for me. Life is found in death. Where I once sought out Death, Death now seeks me, but shall not find me. A stranger in his own home. Reflecting the life of the one who was a stranger among His own people, Jesus. The poor are more wealthy than the rich. My weakness; His strength. Who owns the world; is it the one who holds the greatest military? Or is it? Created Perfect looks ugly. The Humble Ugly are beautiful. Forsake the world for His life.

Please don't take what I have written as an agreement with death, because I disagree with death. Rather, I post a message of Hope. Life were you may not see it. Jesus Christ came for the sick and poor; the spiritual Dead. Don't mourn His death either. He doesn't sleep like the men of old do. He was cursed by man and exalted by God, His Father. His kingdom is incomprehensible to the blind in spirit, but that is fine. He is a guide and has sent a Guide. I trust in what I can't see, forsaking the flesh, to follow what I know is true.

Know this: that Christ died almost two centuries ago, but He rose and reigns as King of kings. He willingly went to a cruel death with the intention to bring restoration to the world. If salvation were a one time thing, where you must straighten up immediately, who would still go to Life with their death? Salvation is a process, which is not popular among men. You won't change in a night, but you can make a decision tonight.

Some Water

Picasa Photo Gallery

So i am a little slow at finding things out, but i just realized that there is a gallery tool that google accounts have. So, i am going to start using it to store photos and so here is the link, which has some new pictures on there. http://picasaweb.google.com/Adam.Skidmore . The only album on there is Lion's Bridge (i want to say Lion's Gate for some reason). They are from today. It is a pretty awesome place. It isnt all of the pictures i took, but because i am uploading about 50 some pictures to Facebook right now, things are a little slow. It would probally be easier if you used facebook to look at them but i will try to put more on there for those who dont have an account with FB (i recommend Facebook over Myspace, So if you dislike myspace try facebook. Yes im advertising). i will be adding more pictures later. L8r. Oh and Christ Rocks!
